QUITO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Ecuadoran Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the country has reached 112,906 cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), with 6,537 deaths after registering 765 new cases and 33 more deaths in the last 24 hours.
The ministry added that it has administered a total of 326,552 tests for the virus so far.
The province of Pichincha, where the capital city of Quito is located, has been the most severely affected by the disease, with 23,726 cases and 919 deaths.
Pichincha is followed by Guayas Province, the original epicenter of the outbreak in the country, which has registered 18,736 cases and 1,676 deaths in total.
This is the last weekend in which a series of mobility restrictions will apply throughout the territory before the country continues into the next phase of reopening in order to reactivate the economy. Enditem
