VIENNA, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Ivona Dadic made the year's highest-scoring performance in the heptathlon, collecting 6419 points to take victory in the Austrian Combined Events championships on Sunday.
Despite a rainy conditions over the two days, Dadic still bettered the previous 2020 best of 6383 set by Ukraine's Alina Shukh two weeks ago.
It was the third best performance of the Austrian's career, trailing only her 6552 tally at the 2018 European Championships and 6461 in Ratingen last year.
The 26-year-old admitted the weekend's competition was the most important of this season.
"I was looking forward this whole season to this event. So I didn't care about the weather. But for these conditions it was really amazing to achieve 6419 points," she told World Athletics.
However, Dadic also said she believed she should have done better. "I am sure that I would have been able to break my personal best or even the Austrian record from Verena Preiner (6591). I am able to score 6650 points." Enditem
