ULAN BATOR, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Major rivers across Mongolia have seen their water levels rise due to continuous downpours, the country's weather monitoring agency reported on Monday.

"As of Monday, the water levels in major rivers, including Tuul, Terelj, Kharaa, Yeruu, Kherlen and Onon have exceeded the warning levels by 5 cm-45 cm due to continuous downpours since early last week," the country's National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring said in a statement.

More heavy rain is expected over most parts of the country in the coming days, the agency said, urging citizens, especially herders living along the rivers and domestic tourists to take all necessary precautions. Enditem
