YANGON, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar reported 38 more local transmission cases on Friday night, bringing the number of cases to 1,171 in total, according to a release from the Health and Sports Ministry.
The newly confirmed cases are from Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy, Yangon, Mon, Rakhine and Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.
Myanmar announced the death of one COVID-19 patient on Thursday night, the seventh death since the country lastly reported COVID-19 death on April 29.
The virus was first detected in Myanmar on March 23 this year and a total of 166,433 samples were tested for the disease at the country's laboratories and 7,766 patients were under investigation on Friday morning, the ministry's figures showed. Enditem
