LONDON, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.89 percent, or 51.78 points, to close at 5,799.08 points.
Anglo American, a globally diversified mining business, soared 3.61 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Glencore and Antofagasta increased by 2.82 percent and 2.75 percent, respectively.
Barratt Developments, one of the largest residential property development companies in Britain, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 6.97 percent.
