Myanmar's COVID-19 cases rise to 1,253 with more local transmissions

YANGON, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar recorded 37 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday night, bringing the number of total cases in the country to 1,253, said a release from the Health and Sports Ministry.

Of the 1,619 samples, 37 more people including a returnee tested positive in Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy, Rakhine, Shan and Nay Pyi Taw, respectively.

As of Saturday, 371 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease and the deaths from the virus stand at seven.

COVID-19 was first detected in Myanmar on March 23 and the first death was reported on March 31. Enditem
