Live COVID-19 updates: Brazil's coronavirus death toll tops 126,000

BEIJING, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

BEIJING -- No new locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported Saturday across the Chinese mainland, the National Health Commission said Sunday.

Ten confirmed cases arriving from outside the mainland were reported Saturday, the commission said in its daily report.

SAO PAULO -- With 682 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, Brazil's death toll from COVID-19 has risen to 126,203, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,123,000 COVID-19 cases have so far been reported nationwide, up by 30,168 from a day earlier.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland reported 10 newly imported COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 2,573, the National Health Commission said Sunday.

Of the newly imported cases, three were reported in Guangdong and Shaanxi provinces each, two in Shanghai, and one in Fujian and Gansu provinces each, the commission said in its daily report.

TEGUCIGALPA -- The National Risk Management System of Honduras announced on Saturday that to date, over 12,000 people have recovered from COVID-19, and the country has recorded close to 2,000 deaths.

Honduras is currently in Phase 1 of economic reopening and some regions will enter Phase 2 this week in order to reactivate the nation's economy.

DOHA -- The Qatari health ministry on Saturday announced 227 new COVID-19 infections, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the Gulf state to 119,864, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

Meanwhile, 242 more recovered from the virus, bringing the total recoveries to 116,780, while only one death was reported, raising the fatalities to 202, according to a ministry statement quoted by QNA.

YANGON -- Myanmar recorded 37 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday night, bringing the number of total cases in the country to 1,253, said a release from the Health and Sports Ministry.

Of the 1,619 samples, 37 more people including a returnee tested positive in Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy, Rakhine, Shan and Nay Pyi Taw, respectively.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore's Ministry of Health reported 34 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 56,982.

Of the new cases, two are imported cases, three are community cases and the rest are linked with the dormitories of foreign workers. Enditem
