RAMALLAH, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Palestine on Sunday reported four new fatalities from the coronavirus, raising the death toll in the Palestinian territories to 203.

Three of the four death cases were from the West Bank districts of Hebron and Bethlehem and one from the Gaza Strip, Health Minister Mai al-Kaila said in a press statement.

Meanwhile, 762 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, raising the total number to 34,012, including 203 deaths and 22,927 recoveries, since the outbreak in March, she added.

Palestine currently has 10,882 active cases, al-Kaila noted.

It is worth noting that the Gaza Strip has so far reported 969 coronavirus cases in total, with 162 new ones added on Sunday.

In an interview with the official Voice of Palestine radio, al-Kaila warned that the outbreak in besieged Gaza is different from that in other parts of the world because of the enclave's high population density.

The Gaza Strip, with a population of 2 million, has been under Israeli siege for 13 years, during which much of its infrastructure and healthcare system has been damaged in repeated Israeli onslaughts. Enditem
