KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Thailand has pulled out of the Thomas and Uber Cup finals 2020, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) said on Monday.

However, the finals, scheduled to be held in Aarhus, Denmark from Oct. 3-11, will proceed as planned, the world governing body of badminton said in a statement.

BWF said the Badminton Association of Thailand cited special circumstances related to COVID-19 in addition to injuries to key players in making the decision.

Thailand joins Chinese Taipei and Australia as member associations unable to take their place. Replacement teams have yet to be announced, the BWF said.

"BWF's highest priority remains the health and safety of all players and personnel participating in upcoming international tournaments," it said.

"This includes implementing a bubble system to create a safe badminton ecosystem for all involved," it added. Enditem
