FARAH, Afghanistan, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Two civilians were killed as their car ran over a mine in the western Farah province on Tuesday, police spokesman in the province Mohibullah Mohib said.
According to the official, a mine planted by militants on a road in Darabad area outside provincial capital Farah city struck a car in the morning rush hour, killing a father and his son on the spot.
The blast took place amid ongoing cleanup operation in the area, the official said, adding Afghan forces launched operations against Taliban insurgents in Darabad and its vicinity on Monday and the operations would last until the area is cleared of the militants.
Taliban outfit has yet to make comment. Enditem
