BERLIN, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were up slightly at the start of trading on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index increasing 25.95 points, or 0.20 percent, opening at 13,126.23 points.
The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was pharmaceutical company Merck, increasing by 1.40 percent, followed by plastics specialist Covestro with 0.89 percent and chemical giant BASF with 0.88 percent.
Shares of Delivery Hero fell by 0.78 percent. The German online food delivery company was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Tuesday.
Delivery Hero became the newest member of the German DAX index two weeks ago, replacing the insolvent payment service provider Wirecard after a multi-billion accounting scandal.
Germany's exports in July increased by 4.7 percent compared with the previous month, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Tuesday. "However, exports are still 12.1 percent below the pre-crisis level of February 2020," Destatis noted.
