BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 situation continues to worsen on Thursday as the total death toll due to the pandemic crossed 75,000, reaching 75,062, and the tally rose to 4,465,863, said the latest data released by the health ministry.

During the past 24 hours, as many as 95,735 new COVID-19 cases and 1,172 deaths were registered across the country.

SHANGHAI -- Shanghai reported six imported COVID-19 cases and no domestically-transmitted cases on Wednesday, the municipal health commission said Thursday.

Three of the patients were a family with a Chinese national and two of French nationality. They left France on Sept. 3, and arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Sept. 4. They started to show symptoms during quarantine.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, including two community cases linked to the Auckland family cluster in August and two imported cases detected at managed isolation facilities.

Of the imported cases, one is a man in his 30s and the other is a woman in her 50s -- both arrived in New Zealand from India on Aug. 27. They were in managed isolation in Christchurch and tested positive on the 12th day of isolation. Both cases are now in quarantine, according to the Ministry of Health.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 155 more cases of COVID-19 as of 12:00 a.m. Thursday local time compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 21,743.

The daily caseload stayed below 200 for eight straight days, but it continued to grow in triple digits since Aug. 14.

YANGON -- The death toll of COVID-19 in Myanmar has risen to 14 after two more deaths were reported on Thursday morning, while total cases in the country reach 2,009 after 120 more local transmissions were reported, according to a release from the Health and Sports Ministry.

According to the ministry, a 55-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, both with underlying diseases, died on Wednesday and Thursday morning respectively.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland reported seven new imported COVID-19 cases Wednesday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 2,604, the National Health Commission said Thursday.

Of the new imported cases, six were reported in Shanghai and one in Guangdong, the commission said in its daily report. Enditem
