YANGON, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's trade through sea route reached 23.9 billion U.S. dollars in 11 months of present fiscal year (FY) 2019-2020 which started in October, according to the figures released by the Commerce Ministry on Thursday.

As of Aug. 28 this FY, the country earned over 9.47 billion U.S. dollars from maritime export while its import reached over 14.4 billion U.S. dollars.

This fiscal year's sea trade saw a slight increase by over 1.4 billion U.S. dollars, compared to the same period of last fiscal year 2018-2019 when it registered over 22.5 billion U.S. dollars, the ministry's figures said.

About 80 percent of Myanmar's foreign trade is done through sea-borne trade and its border trade is being conducted with four neighbouring countries -- China, Thailand, India and Bangladesh, respectively.

Myanmar mainly exports agricultural products, animal products, marine products, minerals, forest products, manufacturing goods and others while capital goods, intermediate goods and consumer goods are imported to the country. Enditem
