U.S. PPI for final demand increases in August

HOUSTON, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand rose 0.3 percent in August, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday.

On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index moved down 0.2 percent for the 12 months ended in August. Final demand prices rose 0.6 percent in July and fell 0.2 percent in June.

In August, the advance in the final demand index was led by a 0.5-percent rise in prices for final demand services. The index for final demand goods also moved higher, inching up 0.1 percent.

Prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services advanced 0.3 percent in August, the same as in June and July. For the 12 months ended in August, the index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services increased 0.3 percent. Enditem
