LONDON -- The daily number of coronavirus cases in Britain on Thursday edged a step closer to 3,000, with another 2,919 recorded overnight, according to the official figures.
It marked an increase of 260 over Wednesday's figure, when 2,659 new infections were officially confirmed.

BEIRUT -- Lebanon's number of COVID-19 infections increased on Thursday by 560 cases to 22,437 while death toll went up by 7 to 219, the Health Ministry reported.
Lebanon succeeded in containing the virus at first, but lack of proper measures by citizens led to the spread of the virus.

YANGON -- The number of COVID-19 infections in Myanmar has risen to 2,150, with 142 news cases on Thursday night, according to a release from the country's Health and Sports Ministry.
On Thursday alone, 262 cases were reported, registering the highest surge in single day.

RAMALLAH -- Palestine on Thursday reported 1,000 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the Palestinian territories to 37,214.
In addition, seven more fatalities were added, raising the death toll to 224, while 25,483 in total have recovered from the infectious disease since the outbreak six months ago, said Health Minister Mai al-Kaila in a press statement sent to Xinhua.

PARIS -- French heath authorities on Thursday said almost 10,000 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in one day, making a record since the epidemic outbreak.

JERUSALEM -- The number of COVID-19 cases in Israel surged to 145,526 on Thursday, with 4,429 new infections, Israel's Ministry of Health said.
