VILNIUS, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Lithuania will raise the threshold for a country to be considered affected by the coronavirus next week, the government said in a press release on Friday.

Those who arrive in Lithuania from countries with a COVID-19 infection rate below 25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 calendar days will not have to self-quarantine for 14 days as of Monday.

Currently, the threshold for the 14-day self-quarantine requirement is 16 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 calendar days. Lithuania's coronavirus fatality rate now stands at 15.6 per 100,000 inhabitants.

As of Tuesday, all travelers arriving in Lithuania by air, sea or land will have to submit their personal data online to the National Public Health Centre (NPHC), said the government.

They will be required to fill in a form on the NPHC's website before boarding a plane, ferry, bus or train, and present the confirmation received, a QR (quick response) code, at the time of boarding.

According to the Ministry of Health, Lithuania has reported a total of 3,243 confirmed cases of COVID-19 by Friday. To date, 86 people have died of COVID-19 and 2,049 have recovered. Enditem
