Myanmar reports 150 new COVID-19 infections

YANGON, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- The number of COVID-19 infections reached 2,595 while the death toll was 16 cases on Saturday night in Myanmar, according to a statement from the Health and Sports Ministry.

One more COVID-19 patient who is a 70-year-old man, with underlying hypertension, diabetes and ischemic heart disease, died of acute respiratory failure due to severe pneumonia and chronic renal disease on Saturday morning, the statement said.

On Saturday night, 150 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed while 51 more patients were allowed to be charged from the hospitals, bringing the number of recoveries to 676 in total so far, the ministry said.

Myanmar reported its two first infection cases of COVID-19 on March 23.

According to the ministry's figures, a total of 191,696 samples have been tested for COVID-19 at the labs as of Saturday night and 9,165 patients are under investigation at present. Enditem
