RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Former Changchun Yatai striker Marinho scored a superb late goal to earn Santos a 2-2 home draw with Sao Paulo in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday.

The 30-year-old came off the bench in the 67th minute and rifled home a low 35-yard free-kick in stoppage time as the hosts secured a barely-deserved point at their Vila Belmiro stadium.

Marinho has now netted seven goals and provided three assists from 10 league matches this season.

Attacking midfielder Gabriel Sara had given the visitors the lead with an eighth-minute strike before Madson Ferreira equalized on the half-hour mark.

Sara was again on target with a low finish after combining with Igor Vinicius. However, Marinho left his mark on the match as Santos extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

Alexi Stival's men are now sixth in the 20-team standings with 15 points while Sao Paulo are second with 18, two points behind leaders Internacional, who have a game in hand.

In Saturday's only other fixture, Athletico Paranaense secured a 1-0 home win over Coritiba courtesy of a first-half strike from Fabio Luciano. Enditem
