TOKYO, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks rose Monday morning as Nikkei heavyweight SoftBank Group advanced after announcing it will sell its entire stake in British chip designer Arm Ltd. to U.S. semiconductor maker Nvidia Corp.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 173.69 points, or 0.74 percent, from Friday to 23,580.18.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 15.56 points, or 0.95 percent, at 1,652.20.
Pulp and paper, nonferrous metal and air transportation issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
