Palestine says not to grant legitimacy to normalization agreements with Israel

RAMALLAH, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Palestine rejects granting legitimacy to any Arab-Israeli normalization agreements, a senior Palestinian official said on Tuesday.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the Palestinian presidential spokesman, told reporters in Ramallah that Palestine "is sticking to the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative," which rejects normalization with Israel before the latter ends its occupation of the Palestinian territories.
"Any agreements for normalization (with Israel) without resolving the Palestinian cause and ending the occupation are rejected and will fail," Abu Rudeineh said.
He added that such agreements "won't lead to stability or security in the region, and would end the decisions of the Arab understandings and initiatives."
Abu Rudeineh also said that the road to peace needs establishing an independent Palestinian state on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, and this is the real commitments to the Arab Peace Initiative. Enditem
