JERUSALEM, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Israel has launched an international database for COVID-19 research, the state's Ministry of Science and Technology said Tuesday.
The new database was launched at an online conference of science ministers from 19 countries, who discussed global collaboration in coronavirus research.
The database aims to share scientific and innovative research between countries and to constitute a global knowledge center for coronavirus research.
With the international database, all countries can share COVID-19 researches and information among researchers worldwide, create an international scientific knowledge community, and open joint research channels.
In addition, the database presents all the options available to researchers to apply for COVID-19 research grants, in Israel and worldwide.
During the conference, the ministers signed a joint statement for sharing coronavirus research information.
Israel's Minister of Science and Technology Izhar Shay said that "coronavirus is a common enemy that threatens the health of billions of people and the routine of our lives, but with a joint international effort we can defeat the pandemic".
He added that "many countries around the world will surely join the 18 countries that have already became part of the Israeli initiative". Enditem
