WASHINGTON -- Israel signed agreements to normalize diplomatic ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain at the White House on Tuesday.

U.S. President Donald Trump joined Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan and Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani in signing the three-way agreements. (US-Israel UAE Bahrain-Agreement)

UNITED NATIONS -- The 75th session of the UN General Assembly was on Tuesday declared open by new General Assembly President Volkan Bozkir.

In his opening remarks, Bozkir said COVID-19 reminds UN member states of the necessity of a multilateral system. He asked member states to use the UN Charter to address collective challenges. (UN- Assembly-Opening)

DAR ES SALAAM -- Tanzania police said on Tuesday they have arrested the owner of a school where a dormitory fire killed 10 pupils and injured seven others in the country's northwest region of Kagera.

"Police are holding the owner of the school for investigations," Tanzania's police chief Simon Sirro told a news conference shortly after he had inspected the dormitory in Kyerwa district of Kagera region. (Tanzania-Fire-Pupil)

KATHMANDU -- The Nepali government on Tuesday reported the record high daily spike in COVID-19 cases as the Himalayan country moved to relax restrictions on economic activities.

According to Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population, a total 1,459 new COVID-19 cases were identified in the last 24 hours. Earlier, Nepal had reported record high daily infections on Sept. 11 with 1,454 cases. (Nepal-COVID-19-Record) Enditem
