BAGHDAD -- The total number of COVID-19 infections in Iraq on Wednesday reached 303,059, as health ministry's officials warned that the upcoming two months will be crucial to the spread of the pandemic.

Abdul Ghani al-Saadi, head of the ministry's al-Risafa Health Department in eastern Baghdad, told the official al-Sabah newspaper that "the epidemiological situation is still unstable in Iraq and the danger lies within the next two months." (Iraq-COVID-19)

TEHRAN -- The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Iran reached 410,334 on Wednesday, after an overnight registration of 2,981 patients, the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education announced.

Sima Sadat Lari, the spokeswoman for the ministry, regretted at her daily briefing the deaths of 179 people over the novel coronavirus, which raised the death toll from the virus in the country to 23,632. (Iran-COVID-19)

JERUSALEM -- Israel's education system will shut down on Thursday, 24 hours before schedule, due to the significant increase in COVID-19 infection, the state's Ministry of Health said on Wednesday.

RIYADH -- Saudi Arabia's Heritage Commission announced on Wednesday the discovery of ancient human and animal footprints dating back more than 120,000 years in Tabuk in northern Saudi Arabia.

Jasir Alherbish, head of the Heritage Commission, said during a press conference in capital Riyadh that the archaeological discovery in Tabuk, which represents the first scientific evidence of human life on the Arabian Peninsula, was made by a joint team of Saudi and international archaeologists.
