Speaking to reporters at the prime minister's office, Suga said his Cabinet would be results oriented.

LAGOS -- Nigeria's organized labor has given the government a 14-day ultimatum to reverse the recent hikes in electricity tariff and fuel price, saying otherwise the country's workers may down tools.
"We are surprised that at a time other countries across the world are giving palliatives to their citizens to cushion the effect of COVID-19, Nigerians are asked to pay more for fuel and electricity," he said at the end of the body's central working committee meeting.

BANGKOK -- Thai Police Deputy Spokesman Pol Col Kritsana Pattanacharoen on Thursday said an investigation has been launched into a shooting incident which occurred on Thursday, with five people, a grandfather, grandmother, mother, father and a nine-year-old boy found dead in their home in Bangkok.
"An investigation into the motive behind the killing has been launched, but police have yet ruled out whether the killings were the result of financial stress," said Kritsana, adding that the family runs an auto-parts trading business.

CAPE TOWN -- South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday further eased COVID-19 restrictions in the country, allowing limited international travel, among others.

MONTEVIDEO -- Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou said on Wednesday that his government is looking into how to allow the public to once again attend soccer matches, which returned on Aug. 8 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
