COVID-19 cases in Costa Rica exceed 60,000

SAN JOSE, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Costa Rica on Thursday registered a total of 60,818 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, after the Ministry of Health reported 1,302 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 17 deaths were registered, bringing the national death toll to 666, the ministry said.

A total of 22,662 patients have recovered from the disease so far.

According to the official data, Costa Rica has registered a total of 31,734 new infections in the last month, a figure that is higher than the 29,084 cases that had been added from March 6 to Aug. 17.

The number of people hospitalized in Costa Rica for COVID-19 is 627, while 245 patients are in intensive care units. Enditem
