Ghana FA mourns 8 teenage footballers killed in traffic incident

ACCRA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed its condolences to Ghanaian eight teenage footballers killed in a road accident.

"The GFA wishes to express our deepest condolences to the families of the eight young footballers who passed away after the car they were traveling on submerged," the GFA said in a statement.

The teenage footballers lost their lives late Saturday when the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in the collision in the country's southern Ashanti region.

According to the police, the players aged 12-15 were on their way back from a football registration exercise when the incident happened, with dozens of the footballers hospitalized. Enditem
