ISLAMABAD, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- A road accident in Pakistan's east Punjab province has left seven people killed and over a dozen others injured, police and rescue teams said.
The accident happened on Monday in the province's Chakwal district where a van carrying over 20 people met the accident at a hilly terrain, police sources said, adding that the incident happened when the driver lost control of the van after its brakes failed while driving downhill.
The injured people including women and children were shifted to a nearby hospital where four of them are said to be in critical condition.
Road accidents frequently happen in Pakistan, mainly due to poorly maintained vehicles, dilapidated roads and negligence of road safety measures. Enditem
