VILNIUS, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- A dancing stork has been unveiled as the official Mascot of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021.

Named "Ivartito" after the Lithuanian word for goal "ivartis", the dancing stork made its debut in a digital launch choreographed by a local dance studio.

The mascot is shown dancing around the three host cities: Vilnius, Klaipeda, and Kaunas, making stops at the Gediminas Castle, a Baltic Sea beach and Nemunas Island.

Having been the national bird of Lithuania since 1973, the stork is thought to bring harmony, happiness, and luck.

"Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced and skilful sport that can be played and enjoyed by all. We hope this mascot will encourage Lithuanian fans of all ages to join us pitchside this time next year," Jean-Francois Pathy, FIFA's Director of Marketing was quoted as saying in a FIFA press release.

As mascot, Ivartito is an advocate for the tournament and the sport, bringing openness and passion to everything he does, read the release.

"We are very happy to share the rhythm and this good news after so many months of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Lithuanian Football Federation General Secretary Edgaras Stankevicius.

The 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania is scheduled to take place from September 12 to October 3, 2021. Enditem
