German shares open up 1.13 pct

BERLIN, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 142.93 points, or 1.13 percent, opening at 12,737.32 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's largest 30 companies at the start of trading was automotive supplier Continental, gaining 1.94 percent, followed by technology giant Siemens with 1.68 percent and Germany's largest carmaker Volkswagen with 1.28 percent.

Shares of MTU Aero Engines grew slightly by 0.07 percent. The German aircraft engine manufacturer was the least increasing company at the start of trading on Wednesday.

Consumer climate in Germany was almost unchanged for October following a "clear downturn" in the previous month, according to a monthly consumer climate study published by market research institute GfK on Wednesday.

The yield on German 10-year bonds went down 0.023 percentage points to minus 0.523 percent, and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1708 U.S. dollars, decreasing by 0.01 percent on Wednesday morning. Enditem
