German shares edge up Wednesday

FRANKFURT, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged up on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 48.58 points, or 0.39 percent, to close at 12,642.97 points.

Sportswear and equipment maker Adidas won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 4.42 percent. Energy group RWE and European multinational online food-delivery service Delivery Hero rose by 3.07 percent and 2.45 percent respectively.

Aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.77 percent. German insurance and financial services company Allianz and housing association Deutsche Wohnen went down by 1.52 percent and 1.19 percent respectively.

Allianz was the most-traded share with a turnover of 263.71 million euros (308.33 million U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, lost 0.29 percent to close at 0.778 euros per share on Wednesday. Enditem
