UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday criticized the practice of Israeli occupation supported by "the present U.S. administration," calling for a just solution to the question of Palestine.

"We have accepted the rule of international law and UN resolutions," and "even though these resolutions only acknowledged as Palestinian the territories occupied in 1967," said Abbas, addressing the ongoing general debate of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

"Yet, the Israeli occupying power, with the support of the present U.S. administration, wants to substitute this basis for a just solution with the U.S. 'Deal of the Century' and the planned annexation of over 33 percent of the land of the State of Palestine, in addition to the annexation of occupied East Jerusalem," he said.

Abbas said Palestine rejected this deal, "as it contravenes international law and UN resolutions, which recognized, inter alia, the existence of the State of Palestine in 2012 as part of the international order."

The Palestinian president also pointed out that Israeli normalization accords with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain were in violation of the Arab Peace Initiative and the terms of reference of a comprehensive, lasting and just solution in accordance with international law.

"Those who believe the Palestinian people can coexist with the occupation or be subdued by pressure and diktats are under an illusion, as are those who are being misled to believe that they can circumvent our people, who bear this struggle and are its only address," said Abbas.

Earlier this month, Washington sponsored the signing ceremony of agreements between the UAE and Israel, Bahrain and Israel, which formally made the UAE and Bahrain the third and the fourth Arab nation to establish diplomatic ties with Israel after Egypt and Jordan.

The Palestinians rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's peace plan in the Middle East, also known as "the Deal of the Century," considering it as a conspiracy to eliminate the Palestinian cause. Enditem
