Large haul of controlled chemicals seized in Myanmar's eastern state

YANGON, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities seized a large haul of controlled chemicals from a truck in the eastern Shan state, said a statement by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Saturday.

A joint narcotics police force confiscated 1,500 liters of Acetic Anhydride acid, 2,640 liters of Dichloromethane and 975 kg of Theophylline from a six-wheel truck in the Hseni township in the state on Friday evening, the statement said.

A suspect was charged in connection with the seizure.

According to the latest statistics released by the presidential office, a total of 2,051 people were arrested in connection with 1,342 drug-related cases as of Sept. 19 this year since the launch of the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department in June 2018. Enditem
