Gov't of North Macedonia adopts fourth package of economic measures

SKOPJE, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The government of North Macedonia has adopted a fourth package of economic measures to assist the citizens and the economy in the crisis caused by COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev told a press conference on Sunday.

According to Zaev, the fourth package of economic measures adopted at a government session will amount to a total of 470 million euros (around 547 million U.S. dollars) with a set of 31 measures.

Zaev declared that this package will cover all businesses and companies with an aim of supporting employment and vulnerable groups.

"The new stimulus package is a continuation of the previous three packages aiming to ensure economic sustainability," said the prime minister.

According to Zaev, together with the previous three packages of measures, the total assistance will exceed 1 billion euros to maintain a stable economy with the potential for revitalization.

On Sunday, the health ministry reported 148 new infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 17,629, with 14,581 recoveries and 725 fatalities. Enditem
