JAKARTA -- Eleven people were killed and three others wounded after landslides struck dozens of houses in North Kalimantan province in the central part of Indonesia early Monday with a risk assessment underway, an official and a rescuer said.

Rescuers have retrieved all the bodies and rescued three other injured residents from the province's Tarakan city, spokesman of the National Search and Rescue Office Jusuf Latief said. (Indonesia-Landslide)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday met with visiting Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah and discussed the Afghan peace process and bilateral ties, according to the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh reported 1,407 new COVID-19 cases and 32 new deaths on Monday, making the tally at 360,555 and death toll at 5,193, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

TOKYO -- Japan on Monday confirmed 279 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the nation's cumulative total to 82,577 excluding cases related to a cruise ship quarantined in Yokohama near Tokyo earlier in the year.
