HANOI, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Police and border guards of northern Vietnam's Son La province have detained three local people for trafficking 20 cakes of heroin and 2,362 pills of synthetic drugs, local media reported on Tuesday.

The authorities made the arrest on Sunday after one of the suspects escaped into the jungle, local media reported, adding that they bought the drugs in the border area and attempted to resell them in other localities. (Vietnam-Drug)

LIMA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Peruvian healthcare system is at risk of collapse unless more is done to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, Health Minister Pilar Mazzeti warned Monday.

As economic activity resumes on Oct. 1, the risk of a second wave of outbreak will increase, Mazzeti noted in statements to local media. "If we do not effectively contain it, and there is a rebound (in cases), we will saturate the (healthcare) system." (Peru-COVID-19-Healthcare System)

SYDNEY, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Australian scientists have collected crucial data from pilot whales involved in the country's largest ever stranding event, which took place last week and left hundreds of the creatures dead.

Rescuers were able to return around 110 of the whales to the ocean, however more than 350 perished, leaving scientists with the difficult task of trying to understand what went wrong. (Australia-Whale Research)

LOME, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Togo's President Faure Gnassingbe on Monday appointed Victoire Sidemeho Dogbe-Tomegah as the first female prime minister in the country, according to a presidential decree.

Dogbe-Tomegah succeeds Prime Minister Selom Komi Klassou who withdrew from office Friday as Gnassingbe won in February the 2020 presidential election for the fourth term. (Togo-PM-government) Enditem
