Egypt's president congratulates Kuwait's new emir on taking office

CAIRO, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi congratulated on Wednesday Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on taking oath as Kuwait's new emir, said a statement posted on Egypt's presidency's facebook page.

The Egyptian president, people, and government wish the best of success for Kuwait's new emir in "completing the efforts of construction and development achieved by late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah," said Bassam Rady, Egyptian presidential spokesman.

The president affirmed in his telegram message "the strong ties between Egypt and Kuwait."

Wishing the new emir and his people "progress, peace and prosperity," Sisi added that he looked forward to more bilateral cooperation for the benefit of their peoples to "serve the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations."

Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has been named the new Kuwaiti emir after the death of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti government announced on Tuesday evening.
