Unlock 5 guidelines allow reopening of cinema halls, swimming pools in India

NEW DELHI, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government on Wednesday issued fresh guidelines for Unlock 5, to be effective from Thursday.

Issued by the country's Home (Internal Security) Ministry, the fresh guidelines allowed reopening of cinema halls, multiplexes, theatres, business exhibitions, entertainment parks from Oct. 15 onwards.

Cinemas, theatres, multiplexes will be permitted to reopen with up to 50 percent of their seating capacity, according to the guidelines.

Swimming pools being used for training of sportspersons will be permitted to reopen with effect from Oct. 15 as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be issued by the federal sports ministry.

According to the fresh guidelines, for reopening of schools and coaching institutions, state governments have been given the flexibility to take a decision after Oct. 15 in a graded manner. The decision shall be taken in consultation with the respective school or educational institution management, based on their assessment of the prevailing COVID-19 situation locally

For social, academic, sports, entertainment, cultural, religious, or political functions and other congregations the ceiling has been raised from 100 to 200 persons post Oct. 15, provided such places are located outside the Containment Zones.

There shall be no restriction on inter-state and intra-state movement of persons and goods. No separate permission or approval or e-permit will be required for such movements, said the latest guidelines.

In the wake of the pandemic outbreak, India had imposed a countrywide lockdown with effect from March 25, which was subsequently extended thrice. The country observed lockdown for a total of 68 days, followed by several Unlock phases. Enditem
