MUSCAT, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Oman on Wednesday called for "equitable distribution of resources" to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic as the tally of infections in the sultanate reached 98,585 and the death toll rose to 935, the official Oman News Agency reported.

"The pandemic has brought major changes to our daily life," Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi said while virtually addressing the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He called for "coming up with the best methods and practices in our cooperation and achieving the common goals of our countries and peoples."

"The international community has a humanitarian duty to ensure the equitable distribution of materials needed to combat the pandemic, especially to secure vaccines to less developed regions that suffer from limited medical facilities and capabilities," he noted.

The Omani official also called on donor countries and institutions to help the most affected countries that face economic challenges amid the pandemic. Enditem
