Kazakhstan's Almaty builds second infectious diseases hospital

NUR-SULTAN, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- The second infectious diseases hospital with 300 beds has been built in Kazakhstan's largest city of Almaty in two months, the press service of the Almaty city hall reported Friday.

The hospital equipped with modern equipment has its own laboratory, where diagnostics of COVID-19 can be carried out.

"In four months, we have built three hospitals equipped with the most modern equipment," the city's Mayor Bakytzhan Sagintayev said during a visit to the hospital.

In Almaty, about 14,000 people have contracted the virus, with 275 deaths.

As of Saturday, Kazakhstan has reported 108,044 confirmed cases, with 103,028 recoveries and 1,737 deaths. About 3,300 patients are currently being treated for the virus. Enditem
