RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Flamengo struck three goals in 20 second-half minutes to set up a 3-1 victory over Athletico Paranaense on Sunday, their first Brazilian Serie A win in almost a month.

Fiorentina loanee Pedro put the hosts ahead with a low strike before Bruno Henrique converted from the penalty spot after a Leo Gomes handball.

Paranaense reduced the deficit courtesy of a Renato Kayzer header but Everton Ribeiro put the result beyond doubt when he lashed home from 20 yards after combining with Giorgian de Arrascaeta.

It was Flamengo's first victory in Brazil's top flight since they overcame local rival Fluminense 2-1 on September 9.

Domenec Torrent's men are now fourth in the 20-team standings, three points behind leader Atletico Mineiro.

Meanwhile, Sport Recife won 2-1 at Bahia, their third successive Serie A victory. Hernane and Marcao were on the scoresheet for the visitors while Matheus Saldanha netted for Bahia.

Elsewhere, Santos rallied late to secure a 3-2 win at Goais. Marcos Leonardo, Jefferson and Marinho were on target for the visitor while Vinicius Lopes and Victor Andrade scored for Goias.

In other fixtures on Sunday, Fortaleza was held to a goalless draw by Atletico Goianiense, Coritiba drew 0-0 at home to Sao Paulo and Botafogo tied 1-1 at home by Athetico Paranaense. Enditem
