BRATISLAVA, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Dunajska Streda's outstanding eight-game winning streak in the Slovak soccer premier league Fortuna Liga came to an end in the ninth round as Zilina celebrated its first victory over the league leaders in four years.

Three first-half goals and an own goal by the visitors helped the young team of Zilina overcome Dunajska Streda 4-1 in their 13th encounter.

Slovan Bratislava used a Dunajska Streda mishap to cut the deficit to two points in the rankings by winning 2-1 at Pohronie as Rafael Ratao's one-man show secured the seventh victory of the season for the visitors.

Ratao sent a low shot from close range through the legs of a defender and into Pohronie's goal in the first half and decided the outcome when his teammate Nono did all the work, cut through the defenses, and passed him the ball to just put it in the empty net.

After a horrible previous season that ended in the penultimate place, Nitra is doing great in the current one, climbing to the third place after a 2-0 victory over Trnava.

Sered is down to sixth after a 1-1 draw against Michalovce which, on the other hand, left the last place in the previous round and climbed up to 10th now. Both goals were scored on penalties after fouls.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Ruzomberok is staying close to the top half of the rankings thanks to its second victory of the season, overcoming ten-man Zlate Moravce 2-1. Senica managed to snap its three-game losing streak, edging out Trencin 1-0. Enditem
