JAKARTA, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- A suspected drug dealer was shot dead by police in the Indonesian province of Aceh last Saturday for resisting arrest, a police officer said on Wednesday.
The suspect, identified with his initials SS also known as DG, was shot on Saturday last week in East Aceh district's sub district of Nurussalam, Aceh Provincial Police's Chief Wahyu Widada was quoted by Antara news agency as saying in the province's capital of Banda Aceh.
SS had been wanted by the local police for allegedly trafficking about 100 kg of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as shabu-shabu, in the region.
The police have also arrested three suspected drug traffickers who have connections with SS, and two of whom were shot for trying to run away. The arrest was made after receiving a report from the public.
Indonesia has one of the world's strictest anti-narcotics laws, and drug trafficking is punishable by death in accordance with the law. Enditem
