PHNOM PENH, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia confirmed a new imported COVID-19 case on Friday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 282, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The latest case was detected on a 29-year-old Cambodian man, who landed in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, on Wednesday from South Korea via a direct flight, the statement said.

"The result of his samples' test showed (on Thursday) that he was positive for the COVID-19," it said. "Currently, the patient is undergoing treatment at an isolation ward in the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital."

The remaining 127 passengers on the same flight have been put under a 14-day mandatory quarantine at various quarantine centers in the capital, according to the statement said.

The Southeast Asian nation has recorded a total of 282 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, it said, adding that none have died and 277 have recovered. Enditem
