HANOI, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam gained 685 million U.S. dollars from exporting over 1.9 million tons of cassava and cassava-based products in the first nine months of this year, up 1.7 percent and 12.1 percent on-year respectively, according to the country's General Statistics Office on Friday.
In September alone, the country shipped abroad some 200,000 tons of cassava and cassava-based products worth 80 million U.S. dollars, up 3.7 percent in volume and 4.5 percent in value on-year, according to the office.
Between January and August, Vietnam sold offshore roughly 1.6 million tons of the products worth 547.5 million U.S. dollars to China, its key importer of cassava, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
The country exported nearly 2.5 million tons of cassava and cassava-based products worth 956 million U.S. dollars in 2019, up 2.9 percent in volume and down 0.2 percent in value from the previous year, mainly to China, Malaysia and the Philippines, according to its General Statistics Office.
