HANOI -- Vietnam reaped nearly 2.5 billion U.S. dollars from exporting over 5 million tons of rice in the first nine months of this year, up 12 percent in value and down 0.6 percent in quantity on-year, according to the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Friday.

In September alone, Vietnam shipped 420,000 tons abroad, gaining 215 million U.S. dollars, down 12.2 percent and up 2 percent respectively. (Vietnam-Export)

MANILA -- The Philippines' total external trade in goods in August declined at an annual rate of 21.0 percent to 12.33 billion U.S. dollars, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Friday.
