Ghana loses to Mali in international friendly

ACCRA, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Black Stars of Ghana Friday lost to the Eagles of Mali 3-0 in an international friendly in Antalya, Turkey.

Malian captain Hamari Traore secured the opening goal in the third minute while El Bilal Traore and Haidara Amadou also scored in the 49th and 75th minutes respectively to secure a convincing win for the Eagles.

The game which was the first under Ghanaian manager, Charles Kwabena Akonnor, who was appointed in January is to prepare his team towards next month's African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Black Stars, who top their group will meet Sudan in a doubleheader AFCON qualification with the first leg in the Ghanaian town of Cape Coast and the return encounter in Khartoum, Sudan.

Ghana will play another friendly with 2022 World Cup host Qatar next Monday as part of their preparations. Enditem
