BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

KUWAIT CITY -- Kuwait on Saturday reported 492 new COVID-19 cases and six more deaths, raising the tally of infections to 110,568 and the death toll to 655, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

Currently, 7,191 patients are receiving treatment, including 139 in ICU, according to the statement.

MOSCOW -- Russia registered 12,846 COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, setting a new all-time high as the pandemic resurges, the country's COVID-19 response center said Saturday.

Russia's cumulative number of coronavirus cases has grown to 1,285,084, including 22,454 deaths and 1,016,202 recoveries, the center said in a statement.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh reported 1,203 fresh COVID-19 cases and 23 new deaths on Saturday, making the tally at 377,073 and death toll at 5,500, the Directorate General of Health Services said.

The official data showed that 10,859 samples were tested in the past 24 hours across Bangladesh.

MANILA -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines surged to 336,926 after the Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,249 new daily cases on Saturday.

The DOH said that the number of recoveries also rose to 276,094 after 842 more patients recovered. Meanwhile, 87 more patients died from the viral disease, bringing the death toll to 6,238.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN -- Brunei reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday with the national tally of cases standing at 146.

It marked the 16th consecutive day without new cases since Sept. 24. Enditem
