BAGHDAD, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Iraqi Health Ministry reported on Sunday 2,206 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide infections to 402,330.
The ministry also reported 62 more deaths and 3,827 new recovered cases, raising the death toll from the infectious virus to 9,852 and the total recoveries to 336,157 in the country.
The lower daily cases of infection came as a result of using fewer test kits, according to the ministry.
Meanwhile, Sayf al-Badr, the ministry's spokesman, told the official Iraqi News Agency that the hospitals are still using the blood plasma of recovered people to help cure the infected, asserting that such treatment is not part of the official treatment protocol, but it proved successful.
Furthermore, Iraqi Minister of Transport Nasser al-Shibli announced in a statement that flights will be resumed starting from Monday between airports of Iraq's Baghdad and Najaf and those of Iran's Tehran and Mashhad.
He stressed that passengers shall abide by related protective measures and instructions to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
Iraq has taken a series of measures to contain the pandemic since February when the first coronavirus case appeared in the country.
China has been helping Iraq fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
