Laos treats last COVID-19 patient

VIENTIANE, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Lao National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has been treating the last COVID-19 patient so that the patient can be discharged as soon as possible.

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control under Lao Ministry of Health Latsamy Vongkhamsao told a press conference in Lao capital Vientiane on Tuesday that the last COVID-19 patient in Laos has light or noticeable symptoms.

The patient is a 25-year-old woman, who returned to Laos from the United States and is treated in Mittaphab Hospital since Aug. 14.

The Lao government has warned authorities and people countrywide not to neglect containment and preventive measures to prevent a second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced that it has been monitoring 2,920 people at 42 accommodation centers across the country.

Laos announced its first two COVID-19 confirmed cases on March 24. Enditem
