Namibia reports over 10,000 COVID-19 recoveries

WINDHOEK, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Namibia on Tuesday reported 207 new COVID-19 recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 10,120.

Namibia's Health Minister Kalumbi Shangula said at a daily update that the southern African country has recorded a reduction in the positivity ratio for the past 16 days despite the increase in the number of tests performed.

"This is encouraging in terms of interrupting the transmission," he said, urging the public to continue adhering to the universal prevention measures at all times to combat the pandemic.

Namibia has so far recorded 12,000 confirmed cases, 10,120 recoveries and 129 deaths, while active cases now stand at 1,751.

Meanwhile, Shangula reminded the public that the ground borders of Namibia remain closed in accordance with Proclamation No. 233. Enditem
